EcoFlow customers will be able to earn rewards by supporting the UK energy grid with their home battery

New collaboration with Axle Energy will enable eligible EcoFlow customers to earn £1/kWh during grid-support events, with a minimum £10 monthly reward under the current offer

KEY POINTS

  • EcoFlow partners with Axle Energy to enable eligible UK customers to earn rewards from their home battery

  • EcoFlow customers can earn £1/kWh for energy exported during Axle grid-support events

  • Minimum £10/month reward under the current offer

  • Fully automated, with customers retaining control of their battery outside events

  • Coming in Q4

Birmingham, UK – 22nd September 2026 – EcoFlow, a global leader in clean energy solutions, has partnered with energy flexibility specialist Axle Energy to give eligible UK customers a new way to earn rewards from their home battery while helping support the electricity grid.

Through the collaboration, eligible EcoFlow battery owners can earn £1 for every kWh of energy their battery exports during Axle grid-support events, with a minimum reward of £10 per month under the current offer.

The service is designed to make participating simple. During short periods when additional flexibility is needed by the electricity grid, Axle automatically manages and trades the energy made available from participating EcoFlow batteries during grid-support events. Customers do not need to monitor energy markets, manually trade electricity or change their battery settings for each event.

Outside of these events, customers retain control of their EcoFlow battery and can continue to use it as normal – whether that is storing solar energy, reducing reliance on peak-rate electricity or providing greater energy resilience at home.

The collaboration builds on EcoFlow’s wider approach to intelligent home energy management. Its OCEAN 2 home energy system, working alongside EcoFlow’s Home Energy Management System (HEMS), is designed to intelligently coordinate how energy is generated, stored and used around the home.

HEMS can optimise household energy around factors such as solar generation, electricity tariffs and predicted consumption, helping customers make better use of the energy available to them. The integration with Axle adds another opportunity for eligible customers to gain value from their stored energy by participating in grid flexibility when their battery is available.

Depending on the customer's existing energy setup and tariff, rewards earned through Axle for providing grid services can also be in addition to payments received through an existing electricity export tariff.

Craig Bilboe, Head of Residential, UK at EcoFlow, said:

"Home batteries are already helping households take greater control of how they generate, store and use energy. With OCEAN 2 and our intelligent home energy management technology, we want to help customers get even more value from the energy they have at home.

"Our work with Axle adds another dimension to that. Customers can choose to make part of their battery available at certain times when the grid needs additional support. Axle manages and trades that energy on their behalf, with customers then rewarded for the energy used to help balance the grid.

"It’s all managed automatically, so customers don’t need to trade energy themselves or actively manage their battery during these events. It’s a simple way for home energy storage to deliver additional value for the household, while also contributing to a more flexible UK energy system."

Turning home batteries into flexible energy assets

As more renewable generation is added to the UK electricity system, flexibility is becoming increasingly important. Electricity supply and demand must remain balanced, including during periods of high demand or changing renewable generation.

Home batteries such as EcoFlow OCEAN 2 can play a role by storing electricity when it is available and, with the customer's permission, supplying some of that stored energy back to the grid when additional capacity is valuable.

Axle manages this process automatically during its grid-support events, enabling participating households to contribute without having to actively operate their battery.

For EcoFlow customers, it means a home battery purchased primarily to manage household energy can become an additional source of income, while retaining its core role within the home.

Actual rewards will vary depending on factors including battery capacity, availability and the number of eligible grid-support events. The £10 monthly minimum applies under Axle's current offer and customers should check the applicable terms and eligibility requirements.

Karl Bach, CEO for Axle, added:

"We believe the future energy system should work for everyone. By partnering with EcoFlow, we’re making it easy for households to play an active role in supporting the grid, accelerating renewable energy, and fighting climate change – while also earning real, meaningful rewards for doing so.

EcoFlow's scale and commitment to customers make them a key partner for Axle. We're excited to launch EcoFlow in our VPP later this year and look forward to establishing a long-lasting partnership."
