EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus: Empowering the 24/7 Operation of Grocery Store without Interruption
In Uvdal, a remote region of Norway surrounded by mountains, harsh weather, and long winters, Erling Strømmen runs a third-generation convenience store that has served the local community for decades. For a business like his, reliability isn’t optional—it’s essential. From lighting and ventilation to refrigeration and payment systems, the store depends on continuous power to operate smoothly every day.
Challenges
But in an area where storms, wind, and snow are part of daily life, power outages are a real and recurring risk. For Erling, the challenge wasn’t just about energy costs—it was about ensuring the store could remain open and functional no matter what. “The most important thing is to maintain normal operations, even during power cuts or crisis situations,” he explains. With a continuous base load of around 30kW and critical systems that can’t afford downtime, the need for a reliable backup solution became clear.
EcoFlow x Elektroimportoren Integrates Solar Generation and Energy Storage Perfectly to Power the Store
To solve this, the team installed the EcoFlow PowerOcean Plus system, designed to provide both energy independence and scalable backup and supports the IT 230 Volt Three-phase. The setup includes approximately 80kW of solar generation across rooftop and facade panels, ensuring consistent energy production throughout the year—even in winter when snow covers the roof. Excess energy is stored in a 40kWh battery system, structured across four battery towers, with the flexibility to expand up to 160kWh as needs grow.
At the core of the system are two hybrid inverters working in tandem to increase output and ensure stable power delivery. Together, the system intelligently balances solar production, battery storage, and grid input—prioritizing critical operations like refrigeration, lighting, and payment systems. In the event of an outage, the battery system seamlessly takes over, keeping the store running without disruption.

For Erling, the impact is immediate and practical. The store can now operate through outages, maintain critical cooling systems, and continue serving customers without interruption. At the same time, the system is designed for the future—scalable, flexible, and capable of adapting as energy needs evolve.
